Classes and Testing

Amateur radio instruction and exams

Several radio clubs in and around Snohomish county offer classroom instruction to assist interested individuals in learning what they need to know in order to pass their amateur license test. Most of these classes take place in a single weekend or over just a couple of weekends and include a special exam session immediately following course material review on the last day. While classroom instruction is not a requirement, some people find it quite helpful.

There are also some excellent online learning tools available. One such tool can be found at QRZ.com Ham Test You will need to register to use this tool but registering is free and QRZ.com is a trustworthy site that, in our experience, does not spam.

The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) publishes self-study books for getting your amateur radio license. ARRL License Study The ARRL's study materials can be purchased from their online store, at other online booksellers, book stores, and many ham radio stores. They may be available at your local library as well.

Gordon West / W5YI is another source for study materials.  W5YI
